Mission & Vision
The Kent County YMCA Sea Otters use competitive swimming as a method to develop the YMCA values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring. The KCY promotes a competitive swim team through the advancement of swimmers from the developmental stage through the national level.
Team Overview
The Kent County YMCA (KCY) is a nationally recognized YMCA and its swim team, the Sea Otters, is a registered USA Swimming swim team with New England Swimming. KCY swims in the Southeastern New England Cluster of YMCAs (SENECY) and consistently finishes in the top three of the 14-team league.

The swim team is designed for all levels of competition, from beginners to national qualifiers. There are five practice groups: developmental, otter pups (8 & U), Otter I & II (9-12), and Otter Club (13 & O). Practices are held at the KCY 4-lane 25-yard pool in Warwick. Most home swim meets are held at McDermott Pool, a 12-lane 25-yard pool in Warwick. Beyond the YMCA dual-meet season, swimmers who qualify can compete in YMCA New Englands andYMCA Nationals, held twice a year in the spring and summer. Swimmers can also compete in USA Swimming Meets (USS meets) beginning at the local level and advancing to regional (zone), junior national, senior national, Olympic Trials, and the Olympic level. Swimmers must be registered with USA Swimming in order to compete in USS meets.
