Health and Wellness

    • Teen/Adult Kung Fu

      Improve flexibility, strength and cardiovascular conditioning.

    • A.I.M. (Adolescents in Motion)

      A program designed specifically for kids 11 – 14 years of age. Participants learn wellness centeretiquette and how to use the cardiovascular equipment and the nautilus strength equipment.Successful completion of the program and test permits adolescents to use the wellness centerunaccompanied by an adult.Learn how to use the cardiovascular equipment and the Nautilus strength equipment. Six 1-hour classes are required before taking the test.

    Aquatics - Teen Lessons (12-15 years)

    • Beginner

      For swimmers with little or no swimming experience. Covers basic skills: floating, front & back paddle strokes.
    • Advanced

      Focus is on refining stroke and building endurance.
    • Private Lessons

      Available for all ages and abilities.  A ½ hour one-on-one lesson with one of our experienced instructors. To register, fill out the “Private Lesson Request Form” at the Front Desk & return to the Aquatic Director


    • Lifeguard Certification

      This is a class designed to certify anyone over the age of 16 in lifeguarding. The student should be able to swim 500 yards in 10 minutes retrieve a 10-pound brick from 9 feet of water and be able to tread water for at least 3 minutes. This class will also certify the student in CPR, first aid, oxygen administration and proper AED use. This certification is accepted all over the nation and is considered one of the better lifeguarding programs.

    • Midnight Hoops

      Grades 8-12
      Competitive, self-refereed, adult-supervised basketball. No pre-registration required.
      Fridays 10:00 pm-12:00 am Members free/Non-members $3 per evening

    • Competitive Open Volleyball

      Ages 16+
      Open to all members. Program members participating in the volleyball league are welcome.
      Tuesdays 8:00-10:00 pm Members free/ Non-members $3 per evening

    • Xergaming

      Grades 6-12
      Exercise + interactive video games = Xergaming! Teens can float between dodgeball in thegym and an alternating schedule of Wii, Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution and Rock Bandin the multipurpose room. Dodgeball format: 1st hour is practice, 2nd hour is competitive. Nopre-registration required.
      Fridays 8:00-10:00 pm $3/evening members and non-members

    • Leaders Club

      If you are in grades 6 to 12 and are looking for a wonderful opportunity to develop leadershipskills and self-growth, join the Bayside Family YMCA Leaders’ Club. Leaders’ Club is a nationalprogram of the YMCA that provides club members with opportunities for leadershiptraining, personal growth, service to others, and social development. Adult staff serves as mentorsand role models.The Bayside Family YMCA leaders club meets twice a month. Meetings are held on the firstand third Tuesday of the month from 7 to 8 pm. This energetic group of teens helps support theYMCA mission and programs. They have helped at the Holiday party and Healthy Kids Day.There have been outings and fun events as well.
